Welcome to Detroiters Helping Each Other! This group was created by two moms who saw a serious need for help in our community and wanted to make a difference. We do it because we love the people of Detroit and Metro Detroit we believe it truly does take a village to raise a child.
We collect household items, clothing, shoes, food and even toys. We even collect items for family pets and strays in need. We sort through and separate those items and then distribute them as they are needed and requested. We take photos of these items with the families who receive them so our donors can see where their donations are helping people in need.
We try to help where ever help is needed. Our first endeavor was Thanksgiving Baskets for families in need. Everything was collected strictly through donations. This was a huge success we were able to help more than 30 families just in our area alone. We were joined by many organizations that also helped an additional 20 families on the east side of Detroit. We were very fortunate to have many volunteers willing to spend their day helping deliver the baskets.
We also have a clothing pantry and a food pantry that we’re slowly working to stock. We are very lucky that even though times are hard for so many there are still so many willing to donate from the smallest items to huge donations. We help with resources for bills, food, housing, clothing, shelter and treatment centers. We try to arrange pick up of donations but most donations are done by drop off.
We hope that if you’re in need you will contact us. There is no judgment just help from our heart.
We have opened a community Store the location address is
8619 W. Vernor Hwy Detroit, MI 48209
